The First Aid at Work course is a comprehensive regulated qualification designed for workplace first-aiders under the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations 1981. Over a three-day period (or equivalent blended format), learners develop the knowledge and practical skills to respond to a wide range of first aid situations in the workplace

The First Aid at Work course will be held in Fareham on Monday 2nd February - Wednesday 4th February 2026.

The First Aid at Work course is for:

  • individuals appointed as first aiders in medium to high-risk workplaces, including construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and large office environments

  • office managers responsible for managing health and safety

  • team leaders looking to ensure the safety of their team and team members

  • associates who wishes to develop advanced first aid skills to handle a wider range of medical emergencies.

The First Aid at Work course is a 3-day course that is thorough, extensive and comprehensive regarding First Aid at Work, designed for workplace first-aiders under the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations 1981. The agenda is:

DAY 1: CORE LIFE-THREATENING EXPERIENCES

  • Introduction

  • Assessing an Incident

  • Managing an Unresponsive Casualty

  • Administering CPR and AED for Adults

  • Managing Choking for Adults

  • Managing Bleeding and Shock

  • Handling Minor Injuries

DAY 2: INJURY MANAGEMENT & SECONDARY SURVEY

  • Secondary Survey

  • Managing Injuries, including

    • Bone, Muscle & Joint Injuries

    • Head & Spinal Injuries

    • Chest Injuries

    • Burns & Scalds

    • Eye Injuries

    • Sudden Poisoning

DAY 3: MEDICAL CONDITIONS & SERIOUS ILLNESS

  • Managing Major Illnesses, including but not restricted to:

    • Heart Attacks

    • Angina

    • Stroke (FAST)

    • Anaphylaxis

  • Assessing Environmental Conditions

  • Additional Workplace Topics and Situations

  • Practical Scenario Assessments

  • Formal Assessments

  • Course Wrap-Up

The First Aid at Work course includes:

  • comprehensive classroom-based instruction supported by online learning resources

  • extensive practical sessions covering a wide range of workplace first aid scenarios

  • step-by-step guidance from a qualified trainer

  • assessment of both theory and hands-on skills

  • an e-certificate on completion to confirm first aid competence.

The First Aid at Work Course is a 3-day in-person training, which includes digital learning materials for pre-course study and post-course reference.

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course is completed in one day, lasting approximately six hours of guided learning, usually running from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm including breaks, with a minimum contact time of six hours
