The Outdoor First Aid Course in Oxford is a 2-day practical course provides the skills and confidence to deal with first aid emergencies in outdoor, rural, or remote environments where medical help may be delayed. Learners practise assessing incidents and providing care using improvised equipment and limited resources.

The Outdoor First Aid course will be held in Oxford on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March 2026.

The Outdoor First Aid course is a 2-day course that is thorough and comprehensive that covers First Aid and care topics that are specific to outdoor environments. The agenda is:

DAY 1: REMOTE ENVIRONMENT EMERGENCIES

  • Introduction & Outdoor Context

  • Incident Management & Triage

  • Management of Catastrophic Bleeding

  • Handling of Unresponsive Casualties

  • CPR & AED

  • Recognising and Management Environmental Injuries

DAY 2: TRAUMA, ILLNESS AND EVACUATION

  • Trauma Management

  • Management of Soft Tissue & Minor Injuries

  • Management of Medical Problems

  • Navigation & Evacuation

  • Outdoor Scenarios

  • Assessment and Course Completion

The Outdoor First Aid Course is an immersive in-person training delivered in realistic outdoor environments,  and includes:

  • access to digital learning materials and scenario guides

  • hands-on practice in managing incidents with limited resources

  • informal knowledge checks and practical assessments throughout

  • an e-certificate awarded after completion

The Outdoor First Aid Course is a two-day in-person training, which includes digital learning materials for pre-course study and post-course reference.
